Responsible Care® policy
The Solvay Group embraced the Responsible Care commitment in 1992.
Our Responsible Care® policy regarding safety, health and environment and the accompanying guidelines are key elements of our commitment to sustainable development. Our commitment to the new worldwide ICCA global Responsible Charter charter, signed in 2007, reaffirms these principles. 

Integration of Sustainable Development in our Mission, Vision and Values
The Solvay group’s general direction is expressed in its Mission, its Vision and its Values. Decided in 2007, the integration of Sustainable Development and Societal Responsibility in these clarifies the significance of Sustainable Development for Solvay. 

Sustainable Development Policy and Strategy 2007
Systematic analysis of the sustainability of our product portfolio forms part of the strategic commitment to sustainable development that received formal endorsement from the Executive Committee in March 2007.

Code of Conduct relating to employees, customers & suppliers, competitors, shareholders, governmental authorities and the public
The Group is convinced that the healthy and sustainable growth of its business, and its good reputation in the communities in which it operates, depend on the consistent observation of a code of conduct grounded in respect for the law, humanity, courtesy, loyalty, equity and responsibility.
This code was revised in 2006 in close collaboration with the employees’ representatives.

Strategic Review 2008 and targets for 2012-2020
Key outcomes from Solvay’s Strategic Review 2008 are the recognition of  the dialogue with our main stakeholders as a key for the success of our sustainability strategy and a series of targets to be achieved by 2012 and 2020.
