A contribution to alternatives to fossil fuels

PVC made from sugar and salt in Brazil

To feed its PVC plant, Solvay Indupa in Brazil will soon have an integrated ethylene production plant that uses ethanol derived from sugar cane.  Ethylene is one of the two main raw materials for PVC.

Santo André will thus become the first site in Brazil producing PVC from renewable resources: an innovation avoiding large quantities of CO2 emissions.
