Level 1 worldwide emergency response for distribution accidents involving Solvay products

The aim of Carechem 24 is to offer level 1 response (advise by phone on technical intervention) for any accident with a product (dangerous or not) manufactured by Solvay, in a large range of countries and languages. For Solvay, the management of outside chemical emergencies is an integral part of the business.

The 3 levels possible of emergency response are

• Level 1 : information and advice on the product by telephone
• Level 2 : advice at the scene of the emergency
• Level 3 : a squad sent with material to intervene at the scene of the emergency

Solvay’s approach is to supply at least a level 1 support everywhere.

Carechem was adopted to guarantee level 1 response in the countries where    

• Solvay has manufacturing sites, but these sites cannot offer level1 response for certain products
• Solvay has no manufacturing sites
• Solvay cannot answer in the appropriate language (export business).

Higher levels (2,3) are provided in several countries, often via local agreements with authorities and chemical federations. In general, although there are exceptions, the existing support is centered on manufacturing sites and focused on the products made there, which is often different from the products transported, stored and used in those same countries. Carechem 24 is aimed at filling gaps in current arrangements and NOT replacing them. With the collaboration of manufacturing plants, it will enable significant improvements in our management of emergencies. 
An additional feature of the service is that the information and advice are provided by full time emergency professionals. The service guarantees a response to an emergency call within less than 10 minutes and a emailed report to DCRT-HSE.  DCRT-HSE transmits the report to the appropriate local and SBU organisations.

The service covers transport and customer emergencies, and the service is free at the point of use.
