The Solvay Code of Conduct is being applied to working relationships.
It was updated in 2006, in close collaboration with the employees’ representatives.
The Group is convinced that the healthy and sustainable growth of its business, and its good reputation in the communities in which it operates, depend on the consistent observation of a code of conduct.
The Solvay Code of Conduct sets rules on relationships with our stakeholders, grounded in respect for the law, humanity, courtesy, loyalty, equity and responsibility :
in relation to employees “we deal equitably with all employees, avoiding any form of discrimination”;
in relation to customers “we refrain from seeking to profit by abusive or illegal means”;
in relation to suppliers “we select suppliers without discrimination”;
in relation to competitors “we will not unfairly denigrate competitors or their reputations”;
in relation to shareholders “we will deal with all shareholders on an equal footing”;
in relation to public authorities “we will accurately inform public authorities”;
in relation to general public “we will encourage visits to sites by neighbors, schools, the press, etc”.
The Code of Conduct, recently revised, lays down practical and precise rules, and applies to all aspects of work relationships, including respect for private life, equal opportunities and non-discrimination.
The Code of Conduct draws on documents of international renown, such as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the Convention on the Rights of the Child and various other agreements.
